It all started witha simple trip to the range ,as usual i take at least three handguns.
I just bought a new house gun ( EAA Windicator 357 4 inch )to try out.
It fired just fine with no poblems ,& after 50 rounds its new home will be on my end table.
But thats not what this thread is about.
On the way in i was looking at some new arrivals to the shop, i had my new gun (EAA) and my gp 100 6 inch and of course my smith 642 witch is my carry gun.
Well a bright shinny new Ruger sp 101 357 caught my eye and i have had my eye on one just like it , did i mention i love Rugers.
So after comparing it side by side to my 642 i asked the shop owner to make me an offer on the smith ,he did $350.00 and that was $100.00 more then i paid for it. He wanted $450.00 for the sp.
So i asked him if i could test fire the Ruger he said ''yes ,no charge"
I blasted away about 25 rounds of 38 spl through it and without a doubt found the felt recoil and accuracy better than my smith, yes its heavier a little larger, but with my past history with Rugers i felt it was worth the trade off.
So now im a proud owner of a new (ANOTHER) Ruger.
My question is, have any of you traded off one of these revolvers for the other?
And if you did were you glade you did? or not?
Be kind Gentelmen, I know smiths are good guns i have a model 10 as well.
I loved my 642 it was a fine revolver for what it was intended for. I will miss it, at least untill i load up some 357's into the sp.
