The wife and I finally got to take a couple of days and get out on the bike for a putt. Our destination was Billings MT mainly because it's close, oh and there are numerous pawn shops and a Cabela's but we'd probably have gone anyway if there was only the pawn shops. But I digress...

My ASM Walker and I have not gotten along well recently so I took her with me to possibly trade if the opportunity arose, and it did. Traded straight for what I believe is an 1860 Police model in .36 caliber. The problem is I'm not finding much information on this particular Uberti. It has the same sleek lines of an 1860 with a fluted 5 shot cylinder, compared to a Dragoon or a Walker it's just cute. Did Uberti make an 1860 Police or am I assuming something incorrectly.

I've yet to shoot her but I'll get around to that in a week or so when I get time. My question I guess is this; powder charge??? I'm assuming a 15 or 16 grain load of 3f is fine, but those of you who have .36's will know better than I.

I'll post pics of the new addition eventually when I'm home during daylight hours.

By the way, Cabela's Gun Library had a 2nd Gen NIB Baby Dragoon that they wanted $599 for. My wife knows when to encourage me and when not to because I obviously didn't come home with that one. I'm still thinkin' about it though.

It's an Uberti 1862 Police. One of the sleekest guns Colt ever made. Powder charge is 15 to 20gr. That's a big step from the ASM to the 1862. Anyway you will like it. Great rabbit and tree rat gun.

I was wondering if the 1862 designation was more accurate. I am impressed with the Uberti fit and finish.

I can't say a lot bad about ASM as I have a 2nd Dragoon that is excellent which is why I bit on the Walker. Unfortunately the different guns have vastly different quality. I wouldn't part with the Dragoon for 50% more than I paid for it. The Walker I was happy to get my money out of after shooting a couple hundred rounds through it. The next Walker will either be a Uberti or a Colt.

Thanks for the info on the Police Denster.

Mykeal,

Beautiful piece. The barrel on yours is shorter. Mine measures out to 6 1/2".

There is quite a difference between Uberti's first 1862 police guns and their later ones like mykeal showed.

Mine is a 1970's version. It has the proper cap slot and the steel back strap and trigger gard silver plated.

The cylinder gap is perfect at .003 and Also the arbor to cylinder bore is perfect too. .0008" (the key to shooting dry)

This gun will shoot all day with out any grease what so ever. Never binds up.

The picture I posted above is a 1997 gun. I also have one from 1972; here's the family album:

The 1862 Pocket Police is a wonderful little revolver. There are several pocket frame Colts in .36, all make fine shooters.

The Colt Trapper model is a very light version with no loading lever. It uses a "Mushroom" tool or you can use the arbor.

The 2nd gen Colt is a fine copy of the 62 pocket Police.

This is a Uberti copy of the 62 Police.

This ASM version is a very good shooter, this one is from 2004.

If you don't mind a .31 you can shoot the Baby of the Colt family.

I almost forgot the 60 Navy pocket, no pic's, I need to correct that.
