I've got an itch for a single shot target pistol for plinking and casual paper punching. I looked at the long discontinued T/C Patriot but the few around aren't affordable. The Trapper pistol has a similar configuration but I can't find much about its balance and accuracy. I do like the double set triggers. Also, don't know if the flintlock version has a good lock. I'ld probably want a percussion anyway. I'll be looking for a completed gun, not a kit.

Any experience and opinions would be appreciated.

Folks,

I finally put together the right serach terms and found the answers I need on a thread here last year. Sounds like the Trapper is definitely the way to go. One coment that caught my attention was:

"The sights are crude. Really crude. "Sears bolt-action .22" crude."

This made me laugh as I have had several of these rifles, still have one, and those sights suit me perfectly out to 50 yards.

Any comments, etc. are still welcome.

Thanks, Jeff

Thanks for the link. Interesting that Ardessa offers their version of the Trapper/Patriot in 45 caliber. The Buckhunter series didn't appeal to me but I''ve never been attracted to the in-line style. This says nothing about in-lines but a lot about me. ;)

The last several T/C Patriots I've seen went for well over $500 or $600. For that price I can get the Trapper and another Uberti 1860 Army Colt.

Regards, Jeff
