1.4gr of Trailboss takes the same volume as 4.4gr of Titegroup.

Plus it looks like donuts. Which is good because the cans look similar.

That is all.

I recently got some and loaded up some .44 special in 240 grain Hornady SWC bullets.

Loaded some with 4.0 grains and some with 5.2 grains, those are the minimum and maximum loadings. Got to get to the range now.

I noticed the powder is really jumpy with static electricity, merely brush your hand near the open container or the powder hopper and it jumps all over the place making a small mess.

Some have recomended swabbing out the powder hopper with a dryer static cling clothe, what do you think?

so far the best cowboy load powder I have used, seems like it was purpose built for 45colt and fills the cases nicely. I belive it was designed to approximate black powder load volume and velocity. it also can be used for some fun lead bullet rifle loads.

165, 170 grn cast 30-30. trail boss 7-9 grains. wow awesome load. low recoil very smooth and accurate with very minimal drop at 100 yards.

I have been using it for almost all of my cast bullet loads since it came out.
There is no better powder for TARGET velocity loads.

I use it in .45 Colt, .44 Magnum, .357 Magnum, .38 special, and .45 ACP.

It is great stuff, no smoke, no leading, excellent accuracy, consistent metering, Full cases so no chance of a double charge, and easy to see in the case.

Its not a powder for thumper loads, or for jacketed bullets, but for cast bullets at target velocity in large cases, it cant be beat.

I ordered some 180 Gr WC bullets from Penn Bullets that I am going to try Trailboss with them in the .44 Spl. & Mag. I have been using 700X in those with lead bullets and it works very well, but thought I would give Trailboss a try. It was average IMHO with plated bullets. :)

4gr. of TB in my Marlin .357 /.38spl 1894 Cowboy makes a easy to shoot, accurate load under a 158 gr. RNFP Laser-Cast bullet. Nuthin' but fun!!

The manuals I have list a maximum load of only 5.4g or Trailboss for 45 Colt with 250g LRN bullets. This only gives 725 fps out of the two guns I have tested, which I guess is ok if all you want is watered down cowboy ammo.

Neither of my guns will shoot to point of aim at 75 feet with that load.

I like Unique for 45 Colt.

Hodgdon lists 5.5 775 fps, thats a target load.

Unique will certainly give higher velocity, but with increased smoke and a bit of leading out of my ruger Vaquero, and Blackhawk. My vaquero shoots to point of aim with that load at 25 yards and closer.

For social work I prefer unique or universal with a 200 gr golddot, at about 1000 fps.
