Trajectory of a .22LR... scope zeroing.

Hi All,

Does anyone know what the trajectory cross points are on a .22LR?.. where the bullet is flat with the breech. Is it 50yds and 200yds like a .223? Probably not.

I know the US Army says to zero the scope on a 5.56mm Nato gun at 50 yards and 200 yards. What are the best zero points for a .22 for all-around accuracy?

Well, a .22LR would definitely not have the same zeroing as the .223, as it is not even half as fast (not to mention has a horrible BC!).
Otherwise, I have no idea.

Depends on the ammo.

CCI says its Mini-Mags will be +1.5 at 25y, +2.9 at 50y, and +2.4 at 75y when zeroed at 100y.

For all around accuracy? How far do you plan on shooting, what accuracy are you looking for? As far as there being a level where the bullet crosses twice, I don't know, but more info would be helpful.

Not much more than 150 yards... max. Most likely between 25-100yds avg.

i zero 22lr at 50 yrds because that's where most rimfire scopes are set to be parallax free. it's also the length of the range i shoot at most often. and i rarely, rarely shoot 22lr more than 100 yrds, particularly since i've been shooting subsonics so often, which fall like bricks.

I haven't shot close enough to verify these near zeros, but running the numbers with a 1200fps MV and 1.5" sight height I got the following pairs:

22 and 50 yards
15 and 75 yards
10 and 100 yards

Aspade is very close here, plus remember, this really depends on the centerline of your scope, being 1.5 inches above the centerline of you bore, which is pretty low. most peeps are closer to 2 inches above, and if you have high mount or see through rings, you are closer to 2.5 inches above.
if you were more like 2.5 inches above sightline, your first zero crossing will be closer to the 25 yd mark.
