I have a 50 cal T/C Hawken in 50 cal.I have a 25 yrad range that i can zero at.If I am dead on at 25 yards what I be at 50 yrads. I plan to use 80 grains on FF in the Maxi and 90 grains of FF in the round ball. Thanks, Byron

Go to http://handloads.com/calc/index.html

You'll have to find the ballistic coefficient of a round ball somewhere else, then you can use this calculator to figure out where you want it sighted in.
I put in a .50 caliber Maxi as a round nose bullet which gave a BC of .217. If sighted in about 3/4 inch high at 25 yards it would be dead on at 60 and 4 inches low at 100. I was using 1400fps as initial velocity.

I have a BP gun that I use nothing but roundballs with. I have it set at dead on at 50 yards. At 100 yards, I can put all my rounds on a paper plate. I basically set the front sight on the 12 o'clock spot on the plate.

Thank you both. I had some old data from Hornady. They indicated the round ball BC at.07.

I use a standard NRA 100 yard large caliber rifle target. That gives you an idea of the size of the bullseye. At 50 yards I use a "lollypop" hold with the top blade of my front sight touching the bull at the 6 o'clock position. So it's shooting just under 3" high at that range. Using 70 grains of 3Fg, and a 225 grain patched, .530 ball, I found the rifle sighted in at point of aim at 100 yards.
