This is probably one for the UK members...
Is it possible for an individual in the US to sell or transfer a rifle (not semi-automatic) to an FAC holder (via a dealer) in the UK? If so, what would the procedure be? Is it prohibitively expensive?

It would require an export license from State, and an import licence from the Dept. of Trade & Industry (currently called the Dept. for Business, Innovation & Skills). It can be done, but for a single item the costs are usually uneconomic.

It would required getting the rifle to a specially licensed exporter in the US and he would ship it to a specially licensed importer in the UK.

"Prohibitively" is your call, but it won't be cheap.

I once sold an Enfield to a collector in the UK. (Talk about coals to Newcastle!). I shipped the rifle to an US exporter, a Mr. Brian Dick of BDL Ltd in South Carolina. AFAIK, the transaction went smoothly.
