Well I'm sitting around the house yesterday all medicated up with no place to go when I get a phone call from a friend who has aquired a pistol and he wants me to drop by and look at it.
Since I have nothing else to do I get Lady45 to drive me out there since it was a nice day for a drive.
When I get there I am shown a old tan 1911 GI flap holster along with a matching tan leather magazine pouch.
In the mag pouch are two 1911 magazines, no name on the bottoms of the floor plates but one has an R on the top lip of the floorplate and the other has an S.
I open the holster and pull out a very nice 1911A1. Nice Parkerizing.
FJA inspectors mark rught below the slide lock. There's a P just below the mag release. And an O on the opposite side just above the mag release behind the trigger.
The slide is blued typical four line with the Pony in the middle. I think in might have been refinished but I can't really tell. Igt's a very deep blus and the letters are sharp enough but the upper hald of the pony is faded. I am not sure at to whether it was polished or just not stamped well. If it is a reblue it was done a LONG time ago. The grasping grooves are still nice and sharp.
Removed the slide. very clean inside. The barre; has typical HS on the right side of the link lug. No other markings on the barrel. Good bore.
Holding the slide muzzle up there is an A and an inverted Vto the left of the disconnector notch
Typical narrow GI hammer and grip safety. Stamped checkered short GI trigger. Slide lock and thumb safety are original GI. Checkered mainspring housing with lanyard loop.
On the right side of the frame, at the top behind the grip just forward if the hammer pin is a crossed cannon stamp. It has been poorly hand stamped since only the left side is clear. It hasn't been polished, what's there is sharp and distinct.
The serial number is 1450xxx.
Is it really worth anything?
He told me he'd sell it to me for $750. Right now I am so broke I can't pay attention or I'd consider it hard. Last one I saw in this condition was in a shop near me for $850 and it sold within two weeks.
