So you have shot a squirrel nest?

very early in my hunting years... (15/16) yes, and as jimmyray stated, was unsuccessful each time and only happened as a result of a slow outing... now that I have learned from my early immaturity, it wont happen again. It is a waste and, essentially, just wrong.

also as stated above, survival hunting is a completely different beast altogether... you do what you can, how you can, when you can.... even in such an instance, shooting at something you cannot see and do not know is there is wasteful... Still not a shot I would take.. I would be hungry for another day.

I'm sitting here looking out my window during a moderate rain and the little buggers are everywhere. Have always had luck in rain, the high wind usually keeps em holed up though.

Realistically, in a survival situation, would you waste any shot on the hope that you hit something? If things are that tight, you wouldn't waste ammo on a maybe.

That, and here in Pennsylvania it is illegal, as stated before. A confiscated gun feeds no families.
