Treestand placement: safety and etiquette

One of my game cameras in this area (about 200 yards from the property line) was stolen. I had cable locks on my cameras for years, but when I got a couple more cameras I didn’t buy additional locks. The crazy part is that whoever stole it put the strap back in the tree. Almost like they wanted to make sure I knew someone stole it.

Doesn’t make sense that the neighbor stole it. We wouldn’t have been pissed to see him on camera. Just curious. He has oil wells on his property, owned and operated by some company. We’re guessing that one of the workers went trespassing. Maybe was hunting neighbor’s property and ours without permission.

The owner of a local archery shop here has a few metal pins in his legs due to that very thing happening to him. He did NOT have a safety vest on. He still walks with a bit of a limp and cannot climb a tree stand anymore, not that he would want to but he's lucky to be alive and he knows it. I'll say this, you don't want to go into his shop and tell him you don't wear a safety vest! I saw that once and that kid had his tail between legs in short order.

I think you replied in the wrong thread. This thread is about safe/considerate location for treestands relative to property lines and other hunters.
