Need some help and opinions on switching from the standard ROA nipples to Treso nipples. I have a ROA and like the fact that I can just use a 3/16 deep socket to remove the nipples from the cylinder. The Treso's use a standard (?) wrench but use No 10 caps rather than the No 11s that I use. The sight info says that the nipples are for Remington No 10 cap, locally I can find CCI No 10s by the boat load so can I use CCI rather than Remington No 10s? Any and all info is gratefully appreciated.

Read this article on percussion caps.
It should answer all your questions.

Treso nips were made for Remington #11 caps.
#10 and #11 have the same inside diameter, but the length is different.

I've used Remington #10 and Treso nips on all my cap guns every weekend at cowboy shoots for years, and they have never failed me.

IMHO, it is worth the extra effort to find them

I find that CCI #10's dont fit any of my guns very well. They wont bottom out on the nipples.Rem #10's seem to fit everything pretty good.RWS #1075"s bottom out on anything i have tried them on but often you have to pinch them to keep them from falling off. The RWS caps seem strong to me,they sound just like a .22 when you use one to clear a nipple.Finding the right caps is always a problem, especially now when its hard to find any caps in a lot of areas.I found a pack of stainless pistol nipples last week in a small sporting goods store.I asked what they wanted for them and got it for $6 but did find out after i got home that one was missing but for $6 is was still a steal.Bad thing is, they dont fit any of my pistols. The threads are right,6- .75, but too short.I dont know if they are for a remington or maybe a ROA. I guess i need to buy another gun so these nipples dont just go to waste, lol.

Remington # 10s fit my stainless Ruger nipples well. They are the only ones that do. Rem. #11s don't. Neither do any size CCIs or Winchester. I found a new shipment of Rem. #10s at Gander Mountain and bought 10 tins.

I went to a lot of trouble to find a 3/16 nut driver to remove my original nipples. I didn't care so much for using the little 1/4 drive socket.

So I found that Track of The Wolf makes stainless nipples for the ROA that have the outside dimensions of the original nipples with the hex head design, but have a Treso interior dimension. They are also a little cheaper.

They claim to be designed for CCI #11 caps. I have tried CCI #11 magnums as that's all that's available, and they don't work well for me. They often need a second strike despite using a dowel to help push them on. Nor do they work with Rem #11's, which need to be pinched on some of them. What I have found works well is Rem #10's, and I've yet to try CCI #10's or find and try CCI #11's.

PRA-S is the product number for those ToTW nipples.
