I tried out a Sig P220 at the range today and it was a very nice gun but after 100 rounds the tip of my trigger finger was stinging. It has never happened with any other gun. What causes this to happen?

I've never seen nor heard of that, but I'd guess your finger is getting smacked by the frame. 200 rounds is a lot of shooting and getting whacked a wee bit every time will sting.

Oops, it was actually 100 rounds, I hit the wrong key. Anyway, I will attempt to try a different P220 next time I get the chance and see if the same thing happens.

strange  Could it be simply from a rough trigger? 100 rounds really isn't that much and to cause that kind or irritation might be a concern...you really might be better off trying another pistol ;)

This happened with me on my H&K USP45. In my case, my finger was slipping down and off the trigger during the recoil impulse and slapping the trigger guard. My hand eventually "figured it out" and the stinging went away after a while.

have that problem with Glocks

I have the same problem with the Glock 36. Not so much with the Glock 27. It was so bad that I eventually sold the Glock 36.

Mmmmm....my WASR 10 did this (horribly, in fact) but I've never had a handgun do it.

In the AK, it was caused by parts of the trigger group being struck too hard during the cycling of the bolt. I suppose the first thing I'd check on a Glock would be the interaction between the striker and the connector?

I shot 10 rounds thru my nephew's Glock 21 and my trigger finger was numb. I can't imagine what 100 rounds would have been like.

CZ40b, numb trigger finger as we speak after firing 100 commerical loads HP.
Mild reloads fine, excellent gun otherwise, I'm going out on a limb here but
alloy frame may be part of the problem, also I consider the cz40b trigger very narrow.

This is the first firearm I've had this problem with.

Kel-Tec's P3AT stings my trigger finger, every time.

Couple things might help:

1) follow through longer. It might be slapping back atcha because you're relaxing just a split second too soon.

2) rough edges anywhere? File 'em down.

3) reposition your finger on the trigger. If you normally place your finger low on the trigger, place it higher up. If you normally go high, try moving it a bit lower. Use more finger or less finger. See what works.

Just some ideas.

I think I get this from my PM9. At least when I shoot it a lot the front of my trigger finger hurts from getting slapped against the guard. It's kind of hard to say what is happening exactly  :uhoh:

Can't say what is the cause however I've never experienced it with other pistols and I have owned and fired many.
I consider the cz40B a well made pistol but it becomes very uncomfortable after about 50 rounds of full power loads.
It seems more of a vibration then a "slap" on the trigger. I would also be interested if this occurs more with the 40cal due to higher pressures?

My Walther P99 makes my trigger finger sore right on the first pad after a few hundred rounds. It's got a rediculous hump in the bottom of the trigger guard. During recoil my trigger finger gets a little pinch between the end of the trigger and that hump. This is probably not what's happening to you, as I haven't seen many pistols with that "hump."

I have an XD40 Sub-Compact, I do not experience any trigger slap whatsoever.
However a member named Alduro has experienced this phenomenon with his XD40-Sub-C.

I also just purchased a new CZ 75 Compact, hope I dont get the trigger slap problem

Thanks for the advice, I'll try this next time it happens.

Is it possible the guys experiencing the trigger slap are gripping the pistols very low on the grip, because then the trigger finger will be lower on the trigger and closer to the bottom of the triggerguard?? Is it the trigger doing the slapping or the trigger guard??

I tried some all wood Hogue grips out on one of my revolvers and found my shooting thumb's knuckle got slammed by the grip pretty good every shot. Never felt that with the rubber Hogues and had to switch back to them. That rubber sure dampens the shock.

I'm pretty sure it was the trigger because it was the tip of the pad of my trigger finger that was stinging.

Trigger slap seems to be a mystery.

Another THR member gets is all of the time with his Walther P-38.
However I never noticed it when I shot the same gun.
But then I am on drugs so it may just be me.
