Hi everyone.

I have a Beretta 682 Gold and the second barrel doesn't fire over half the time when I'm using 7/8 oz loads. It works with 1 oz loads. The same loads will cycle my 390. Any suggestions?

TIA

it's not getting enough recoil to set it
you probalby have a big recoild pad on it too
hold it up tight and make sure it goes
esp with the light loads.
same thing happens once in a while with my silverhawk if i don't hold it tight so it actually sets the recoil.

If you really want to, you could probably have it tuned for light loads. Don't ask me how, though.
:D

My 682 Gold works fine with 7/8 oz. loads, never a problem. However, to address yours, you can have it converted from recoil to mechanical triggers. I think Coles does that work.

BozemanMT,

I tried holding it really tight against my shoulder, same thing. Doesn't work. I had to trade for a few 1 oz loads to shoot the doubles.

You are right about the recoil pad. I was getting beatup by the cheap promo ammo.

put it up against a hard rail (use the stand on sporting clays) and POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION fire one, then pull the trigger again.
if it doesn't go, then your mechnism sucks and it's gunsmith time
if it does go, then it's you or you aren't giving it enough recoil
a 682E is a pretty big gun and with a recoild pad and small loads it might no go.
also, does it work one way and not the other? for example under will follow over, but over won't follow under? that would be a mechanical problem and I've seen that before. gunsmith time.
that would be my thoughts.

I have a Beretta O/U and had misfires. It turned out that the trigger [which was set in the rearward most position] was too long and the tip would sometimes jamb against the trigger guard and fail to reset !! Filing off the tip of the trigger cured the problem .

BozemanMT,

It doesn't work either way. I am thinking of pulling the stock and making sure everything is clean and lubed.

My wife is shooting a Beretta 682 Gold E Sporting, often with 7/8 oz handloads, and has yet to experience any problems. The gun was worked on and has had barrel work (long cones, ported), a premium recoil pad (Kick-Eez Rocker) and the stock fitted (over an inch cut off the LOP).

I'll give my standard advise for any mechanical problems... clean the thing completely. If you aren't comfortable removing the action and cleaning it, then pay a smith to do it for you.

If the gun still isn't working right, have it inspected by a competent smith. There's NO REASON why that gun shouldn't work with light loads. You could pay to have the triggers converted to mechanical, but it's a chunk of money and can sometimes lead to other issues down the road.

I wouldn't.
a 682 Gold E street value is about 2500 bucks
you are going to be PISSED when you scratch it.
I'd just take it to a gunsmith. (then you have someone to blame if it's scratched.:uhoh: )
but that's just me, I let the wife do the precision work in our family.

is it a new gun????? if so, is it still under warranty?

This is not the E model, It's the older Gold Sporting. It's not new. I have pulled the stock before to clean the internals.

If it doesn't work I will either have to go to a heavier load or have it converted to mechanical triggers.

I know that Cole will convert it to mechanical trigggers for $100. I would prefer to do it locally if I can find a smith.

If anyone knows of a really good smith in the Delaware, Philly or maryland area please let me know.
