Trijicon Reflex II sight

I bought a used Trijicon Reflex II sight a few weeks ago. It was mounted to a M-16 carry handle mount. Retails for almost $600, I paid $200. Everything looked brand new except for the windage screws, they looked like someone had tried to adjust it MANY times. I now have it mounted to my Bushy Carbine. Windage is okay, but it seems that my elevation is WAY too low. The sight did not come with the original box and instructions. I have searched for hours on the net, and all I was able to find was the MSN groups for Maryland and PA's AR-15 shooters site. There was some great info there, btw, including how to sight in my Reflex. What I am looking for is the originial instruction manual that comes with this sight. Something is wrong and I am hoping to find out what it is in the instructions. Its either user error, or something is damaged. Trijicon's web site did not have this available. Any ideas?
(I know I may have a $200 usless sight on my hands, but I was willing to take the risk for a deal that good!)

Call Trijicon. Their 1-800 number is on the website.

I purchased a used Trijicon ACOG Compact with no instructions or (I learned later) the proper-sized wrench to tighten it. I called Trijicon and got the instructions in a few days. When I realized that I needed the wrench I called again. It took two calls for this (I think the first got lost) but they were very friendly and ready to help.

Trijicon's customer service seems to be very good. Call and I am sure they will help you.

When I went to the range yesterday a fellow shooter asked if I had the proper key to adjust the windage. I think the previous owner didn't use this key by the looks of it. I will call Trijicon tomorrow. Thank you very much for pointing out the simplest solution! Duh, why didn't I just think of that. Thank goodness for the collective intelligence of THR!

A flat blade screwdriver (or anything else that fits in the slot) should work just fine for adjusting that sight.

Perhaps the previous owner stripped out the inside part of the elevation screw?

If you have to send it in for repair anyway ask about having the sight refurbished. The tritium insert really does last a long time, but if it is already going in...

Bought one before Aimpoint made the original CompM, still works fine.

Even if the blue tinted view is sometimes annoying. ;)
 
Just shipped back today

I contacted Trijicon, got some information and realized that something was not right with the sight. I called them back, and they gave me a RMA number without hesitation. The same customer service rep who spoke with me on my first call got me on the second. I am very impressed with their customer service. I just shipped the sight this afternoon. Will let you know what happens when I get it back.
 
Sight has returned!

To all who have followed this thread (all two of you!)
My sight was delivered today. The note in the carefully wrapped sight states that the lens was replaced. Upon inspection, they also replaced the elevation and windage knobs. They were tore up from the last owner. Gonna mount it and test it out this weekend at the NRA range. So far I have had EXCELLENT service from Trijicon. Lets see if they fixed the problem.

Just as a follow up, and I say this n ot just becasue I am personal friends with one of the owners fo the company, but in the optical field as far as customer service, Trij is right up there with Leupold.....

And Trijis are far harder to work on

yup.... i'm quite happy with my trijicon tri-power. heck, it was already sighted in at 25 yards when i bought it!

i bumped it up to 50 yards though. i can live with it hitting an inch low at 25 and 3 high at 100.

but it will need some adjustment when i get those surefire foreends put on, and move the tripower forward so i can put on a flipup rear sight.

and a vertical handgrip. and a light. and gawshdarnit, i'm even thinking of putting an eotech on the left handrail.

I would love to know what rifle you have that tripower mounted to. I just went to the Trijicon web site and it looks like they are re-designing the sight and it will be for sale 4th QTR 2005. Check here for the details: http://www.trijicon.com/user/parts/parts_new.cfm?categoryID=11

They mention that the re-design includes a sleeker, more rugged body. Now I am very interested...

a colt 6721 (think 6920 but with a 1-9 twist, and no step for the grenade launcher - like i'm going to find one on ebay anyways!).

i had heard rumors about the new design, and thought about holding off until they were available to get a new improved one, but then i realized that the sturdier design would benefit those putting their tripower to good hard use. sitting at home day in day out, and only getting used at the range, just doesnt justify my needing something 'sturdier'.
now maybe if i was in the habit of executing tactical rolls while clearing houses of insurgents (instead of eating jelly rolls while jockeying a desk :D ) i'd see the benefits.

plus i was on an impulsive trip at the moment and just didnt want to wait!

one thing though that took some practice is getting the cheekweld just right. my eyes wanted to see the reticle twice, which is no fault of the optic, but rather my weak eyes. the first time i shot it, i was convinced it was dual chevrons! was kind of disappointed when i learned it wasnt actually the case.

if wildalaska ever brings his new digicam to the range i'll get some pics taken of it. we'll have to convince his shop-maiden Muffy to do the modeling though. theres not a camera with a wide enough lens to capture my girlish figure.
