Trimmed 223 cases too short

I trimmed about (50) 223 cases too short, they ended up around 1.735". Should I just pitch them or use them? They will be used in either an AR or a Savage Axis 223. These rounds would strickly be for plinking at the local range. I would load 55 gn FMJ X-treme in them.

The normal trim to length of 223 is 1.750" which is .010" less than maximum case length. However, if we look at the SAAMI specifications for a 223 case we see the case length dimensions as 1.660" - .030" so between 1.730" to 1.760" being the span.

You are within the tolerance at 1.735". Load them and shoot them.

Make 300blk out ammo with them, or sell them for that purpose.

A rule I have used is as long as there is one caliber of length to hold the bullet I will load and shoot them. As long as the round does not head space on the mouth that is. They will grow longer again.
