I saw some triple 7 45/50 pellets at Cabelas the other day. Supposed to be 50 gr. Black powder equivalent. Kind of spendy at $21 for 50 but they looked pretty convenient so I thought I'd try them in a pistol. I dont believe there are any warnings not to on the box. In any case I couldnt find reference of anyone trying them in a pistol except one guy on the internet and he couldnt get them to light off. Worst thing I'm out $21. So I had to do a 2 hour business trip today way out on the Yakama reservation and I brought one of the old army's with me.Threw one of the T7 plugs in each of the cylinders with a 220 grain pure lead conical in the classicballistx cylinder, track of the wolf nipples and #11 Remington caps. I pulled out into the res hinterlands and tried to light it off. Every cylinder went off right as rain. Didnt have time to chrono it but it felt stout.

I'm pretty sure the 50gr. pellets are made for inline m/l rifles, but if it fits in a Ruger it will do no harm. I have never used pellets, but it's my understanding that one end of the pellet is coated with bp which helps ignition.

I thought that too but there is no indication that the pellet is coated. That might be for pyrodex.

FWIW I just loaded up one of my factory Ruger cylinders and everything fit just barely with the 45/50 pellets and 220 grain conicals.

You just want to make sure not to crush the pellet. I'm not sure why but I know that was the warning when they came out.
