Anyone own any of these for their M4/AR-15/M16? Are they a good brand? Do they malfunction?

Usually, I wouldn't be asking such dumb questions, but I plan on mass ordering 13 30-round Triple K's after the future order of the Bushmaster XM15 E2S M4 Type Post-Ban Carbine and well... I don't wanna get a bunch of crappy mags.

Thanks.

I can only speak for the AR-15 mags. Don't buy them.

There are plenty of USGI mags available these days.

Check out 44mag.com These are the kind of mags most people will recommend and use, including me.

Cheers

I once bought 1 Triple K mag for a Beretta mod 70 - This was in1996, and the Mod 70 had long been out of production. Triple K was the only one who made a mag at the time that would work in th egun. That 1 mag worked fine.

TripleK's do not have a good reputation. Given that USGI spec magazines are so bloody cheap ($10/each or thereabouts), why tempt the gods?

Junk, absolute junk. There is no reason not to go with USGI mags nowadays. If you are looking to save a few bucks, the synthetic Orlite mags made by the Israelis are pretty good too. You should be able to find both here at a decent price.

The factory Triple K magazine for a Browning Hi-Power is a Beretta 92 magazine that has been cut and cheaply modified. It is unreliable, utter junk, and often does not even fit into the magwell of the pistol.

Based on that experience, I avoid Triple K.

USGI mags are cheap, plentiful and offer excellent reliability. You can buy them cheaply at Brownells (who supplies them to the military), D&L Sports, or any number of other locations on the internet.

The Bushmaster 30rd mags are USGI mags with the floorplate replaced with a Bushmaster floorplate instead of the actual manufacturer. The Bushmaster 10rd mags are less reliable.

I have exactly one mini-14 mag of theirs, and it's well made and functions perfectly. For an AR, though, I'd go with USGI or milspec. If there were USGI mags made for the mini-14, I'd be using those instead...

This may seem weird, but I am specifically looking for steel mags. Can someone point me twoards a reliable, good brand that manufactures and sells steel M16/AR-15/M4 mags?

Yeah, I'm a picky person. :-/

H&K makes an enhanced function steel magazine for the AR15; but it runs $50-60 a mag if you can find one.

Britain and Taiwan both use steel STANAG mags that are compatible with the AR15 and both types have been imported to the U.S. You'll just have to look for them.
