It'll probably do the job. But if a 'cheap house gun' is what you want, there are other options.
If your question is if it's a good shotgun for the money, I can't really answer that. I haven't handled any Tristar shotguns before.
But if your goal is, as you said, to find a cheap house gun (I assume that means home defense), you can find perfectly good shotguns for less money.
Maverick 88s are probably the perfect cheap home defense shotgun. You can find them for under $200 easily, and with some looking you can probably find them for less.
There are Chinese-made pump shotguns for even less than that, and I would actually be fairly surprised if I were told they didn't work well enough to defend your home with.
