What kitchen technology found in many modern American kitchens may be traced to old weapon technology?

I'm not asking about radar & microwave. I mean centuries old.

Spraying cookware with PAM is a lot like lubricating a blackpowder gun; keeps unwanted crud from building up on cookware.

Using measuring spoons for ingredients is the same as measuring blackpowder volumes.

Washing dirty cookware with soap and water is the same as cleaning a blackpowder gun with soap and water.

Using charcoal for cooking is the same source of heat that was used in forging gun parts.

...I have no idea if I am on the right track!

Next hint: If you're modern, you use it to make cake/cookies/brownies.

OSS had an explosive flour which in a pinch, could be baked and consumed. But back to the pre-percussion cap era invention.

Not a sifter. It has to do with a kitchen appliance and it's not the appliance itself but the military innovation that it uses.

JT-AR-MG42 - you're on the right path, but it's not the appliance but the innovation that today's appliance uses.

Mortar and pestle for breaking down black powder to a smaller grain, plus graded colanders?

Although that's probably been around since the dawn of time.

socket bayonet method of attachment to mount fixtures on your mixer.

Uh, I didn't know there were different fixtures for a mixer.

Brings memories of Jeff Daniels' stirring command in a movie that should be shown to
every high school History class (if schools even teach History any more!).
