I bought my first gun a few months back, a shiny (well matte) new Gen 4 Glock 23.

A family member who's gift giving skills now rate A+ in my book bought me tru-glo fiber optic/tritium sights for me as a bday gift to replace the stock plastic ones. Good, because I'm in the market for night sights.

However, I'm a little hesitant to install them. In middling light conditions (not outside, not dark) they seem less visible than the stock sights and thus I assume are less visible in the same conditions relative to Trijicon's, with their white outline.

I've also had it pointed out that in the 1/100000 chance I find myself wanting to rack the slide on my belt or night stand, the rounded front will make it near impossible.

Long story short, if you're looking to replace plastic sights on your glock with night sights, and somoene gives you a free set of tru-glo fiber optic/tritiums, do you install them? Or... do you eBay them and buy Trijicon's?

On a side note - love the gun. It's light, controllable, powerful, accurate, holds 14, and low maintenance. I completely understand the 1911 crowd just like I understand classic cars, but I wouldn't make one my daily driver.

I have Tru Glo TFo's on my G19. I also have a Tru Glo TFO front sight on my Sig Blackwater P226. IMHO they are great sights for a carry, HD gun. I have thousands of rounds through mine without a problem. I do use a small square of skateboard tape on top of my slide behind the ejection port if I need to rack the slide unconventionally.

The TFO's are brighter than any other sights I have used either day, dusk or night. They only thing I do is put a small drop of super glue gel on the front FO tube for the rough stuff.

Since you are asking the question it seem you want the Trijicons. I have them on a Glock 19 and love them. Go to the gun store or show and look at a bunch of different sights. Then decide. I put an XS system on my Kahr because I wanted night sights and it made sense at the time. It took me a year to get comfortable with them, but for fast close shots they are hard to beat.

I love the TruGlo TFO sights, For ME they are the best out there. they can be seen Great night or day.

I have them on all 4 of m Glocks. With they made them for CZs

When they first hit the shelves, I remember several forum members here and at TFL complaining about the front sight element coming out from recoil. IIRC, they were fixed under warranty. I would assume that TruGlo would've corrected the issue by now though. They have been around for a while now.

TruGlo tfo's on my XDm .45 are the best addition I have ever put on a gun. I have Meprolight , and Trijicon on two other house guns. The TruGlo's are by far the easiest for my old eyes to pick up.

I did the opposite to what you were thinking and I got my tfo sights on ebay. I have trijicons on my duty weapon and my backup 27 and I put these on my new gen4 23. The install was easy with the right tools but I did have to file down the screw a little on the front sight to get the front sight to tighten down. They are bright enough for night and are alot better than the white outline on the trijicons

Thanks much - going to go ahead and get them installed. I think after having read some more I'll like them, but if I don't, it's so painfully easy to take them back off no point in not doing it.

VP - Hah, the funny part is most of my family lives in the UK, where having a .40 handgun with 14 loaded would be a fast track to jail. The family that's over here appreciates the right.
