Hello

The Mrs and I spent her first day at the range and firing a any kind of gun yesterday.

The rifle Du Jour was a brand new 10/22 base model. I was very pleased with its out of the box performance. I am very tempted to go on about the day but Ill stay on point.

We both dislike the stock sights even though she was able to pop 9 of 10 inside a 1" circle at 50'. The chief reason was the difficulty we have focusing on that brass dot.

My questions to you knowledgeable folk are:

  1. Do you find it easier to see green or orange ?
  2. Is there any real difference between TruGlo, FireSight or Hiviz? They all seem pretty much the same. I was wondering about fit and quality.

The front sight is getting replaced for sure and I am researching a rear sight replacement. I was looking at this one below and wondered if anyone has used it before?

Thank you all for your thoughts.

I have little experience with fiber optic sights, but being that green is in the center of the human visual spectrum (red being on the lowest end just above infrared) it would seem logical that green would be most eye catching. Orange is below green, but above red.

I prefer green for the front sight and red or orange for open sights on the rear, however I find that a good aperture sight (fiber optics not needed) is the best way to go for the rear as it naturally aligns the eye to the front sight. BTW, Skinner makes a pretty decent peep.
