Trying an new IWB holster

I have been carrying my Dan Wesson Bobtail in an OWB Galco Silhouette holster, but it doesn't hold the but of the pistol as close into my side as I like. Picked up a Galco Summer Comfort this weekend and so far like it. Any other recommendations on good IWB holsters for a Commander sized 1911?

I wear it on my right side at about 3:30 or 4:00. The forward cant of the holster puts the grip right at 3:00 from that position. Holds it into my side much better and seems to reduce printing.

I also have a Milt Sparks Watch Six, in this case for a S&W 3913. They make a vast array of IWB holsters if you don't like that one. The only drawback is the wait time. At least they are up front about this and will not charge your credit/debit card until the order is completed and ready to ship. Besides the quality of the product, their business ethics are above board.

Crossbreed?

I've been using a Crossbreed, very comfortable carry and so far has been a very solid IWB option. The one I have is "tuckable" and actually doesn't really print badly at all.

I like the Milt Sparks VM2HS IWB Holsters. I have two for different guns.

There's the Karl holster that I make. Most of these are for the full-size 1911, but I get a fair number of orders for the commander size as well.

Tuckable, with a steel-reinforced mouth to make it easy to reholster, and steel reinforced sweat flap to protect you from the gun and vice versa. Snap loops make it easy to put on and remove.



Very stable, the widely spaced belt loops keep it in the same position every time, and it pulls the butt of the gun tightly into your side to reduce printing.

My gun of choice to carry is my 45 ACP 1911, and I find the cross draw method seems confortable, however that gun butt sticks out like a sore thumb weather IWB or OWB! Suggestions?????

Crossdraw inherently makes the butt stick out. That's the only way it can be - for crossdraw you have to tilt the gun backwards (toward the butt) which makes it stick out. For a standard strong-side holster, the gun is canted forward for two reasons - it makes the draw easier, and it keep the butt closer in to the vertical center of gravity of the gun as well as closer to the curve of your body.

If you absolutely must have crossdraw, try wearing it at the 1:00 position instead.

Actually the butt doesn't show as bad if I don't use a holster...Of course that method has it's own set of problems.
