I need to slightly increase the weight of trigger pull on my 1911. ~1/4#. Is there an art to the science of bending the leg of trigger spring? Start at the bottom? Middle? End of the tang?

Swap the spring for a different one?

It's a trial and error thing if you don't use a pull gauge to measure the amount of resistance in the leaf.

Bend the center leg forward from slightly above the centerline by supporting the leaf slightly below center with finger and thumb. Support above the junction of the leaf and the main part of the sear spring is critical, because if it's not done, the leaf will snap off like a dry twig.

OK, so hold the base of the spring in a wood block vise slightly above the junction of the three legs, press on the center of the bow from the inside then bend the sear end away from the center of the bow.

Got it! Thanx!

I do have a pull guage, How would I use that to measure the difference before installation/testing?

Rig up a stop at a short distance...like 1/8th inch...at a set point on the spring. Pull it until it just touches the stop and note the tension on the gauge. Adjust and try again.

Or...Just bend a little in the direction you want to go...assemble the gun and check the pull.
