I have long been a fan of the value purchase in Turkish made firearms.

There are two very fine copies or "clones" of the CZ-75 that are made in Turkey. The AR-24 made by Sarsilmaz (not quite a clone, more of a copy with some changes made) and the Canik55 Stingray which appears to be more of a clone.

MKEK Girsan also makes a Berretta 92 clone that is 100% parts interchangeable.

Here is the question...Canik55 has a fairly new pistol out, the TP9. From the looks of it, the gun appears to be a copy of the P 99. Anyone know?? Is this a reverse engineered copy? Are the internals the same as the Walther?

If you look in the right spots, the Turk pistols seem to sell in the low $300 dollar range, and for the quality I have found, these are a really good value.

A true knock-off of a Walther P 99, for around $300 would seem to be a great value.

M2 Carbine,

I agree completely. For all intents and purposeses (sure I mis-spelled that), this is a Beretta 92f. One of the best values on the market today.

What I would like to know; is the TP9 the same sort of value? Is this pistol an exact (or very close) clone of the Walther P 99?

I don't know, but just looking at the TP9 it is not an exact clone. it has a push button mag release rather than the lever release found on the Walther.

The P99 is a very underrated pistol. If this is a copy that is as well done as their copy of the Beretta it likely will be a very good value.

The CANIK 55, in various styles, is a pretty reasonable clone of the CZ-75, using some features of the original CZ design and some of the Tanfoglio model.

They seem to be good guns. My only reservation would be about ongoing parts availability -- as many of the clones come into the country, and the importer fails, and you're stuck getting parts or service.

Do a Google search on CANIK 55 and you'll find all sorts of information and photos.
