Im just getting into turkey hunting, and i wanted to know some answers to my questions. My first question is can you shoot a hen in N.C. My next question is, is a camoed shotgun necessary or will my remington 11-87 do(not shiny wood or barrel). I can use my friends shotgun which he has dedicated for turkey hunting, but i would rather use mine.

i don't know if you can legally shoot a hen in NC, however you don't have to have a camo shotgun, think about it-- did turkeys get shot before there was camo clothes and camo guns?? the answer is no you don't have to have a camo gun. but i would recommend a 12 ga full choke that you have patterned at 40m yds with the heaviest load of no 6 lead or hevi shot you can get. draw an outline of your forearm on a piece of paper it simulates a turkey neck. shoot at the base of the neck not at a turkeys head. don't move as turkey eyesite is so keen they can see the slightest movement if you can see them.

Beware turkey hunting is addictive, Read the "Tenth Legion" by Tom Kelly to understand turkey hunting!

Mine too.

You need a copy of your states F&G regs (memorized) & possibly a special stamp or licence before you even consider hunting anything.

Killed my first 6 turkeys with a bright shiney Rem 870 wingmaster, shooting 2/3 #6's. Didn't know what cammo was back in 1970. My turkey outfit was a pair of BDU's and a dark brown longsleeve shirt from Monkeywards and my dads old brown felt hat.

A camo shotgun is definitely not necessary. Being still is key. Turkeys can pick up on the slightest movement and when they do, they're not going to stick around. Don't know about the regs in NC.
