Turkey with a remington 870 Police?

Forgive my silly questions, I'm new to hunting. I've got a remington 870 Police shotgun. If I put a turkey choke on it can I use it for turkey hunting? I ask because I'm really too poor to afford a "turkey gun".

You might need to install a magazine plug to conform with game regulations. Other than that, I can't see any reason why not.

here in NH i'm pretty sure the plug only required for upland game birds.

Does it have removable choke tubes? If so get a mag plug and turket choke and your in buisness.

I just bought a 870 Police Magnum 3" , mine does not have the option for different chokes

Nope, no way.

That 3" police magnum definately wont kill a turkey. You have to have a cammo finished semi-automatic with a 42" barrel and a red dot scope to kill a turkey.

You might want to check if your barrel is threaded for choke tubes or not. A quick look at http://www.remingtonle.com/shotguns/870synthetic.htm indicates that a fixed improved cylinder choke is standard.

As with any shotgun...pattern it. If it patterns well with your intended load at 20, 30, and 40 yards you are in business.
