I will turn 18 on May 10 and I need to know the exact details on what is legal in Florida for car carry with a handgun.
Because once I turn 18 I will put my hangun in the car but I need to know what the law is and what the requirements are because my step father and mother confuse me because they told me it has to be unloaded and in a glovebox and the other thing I hear it can be loaded and in holster but 4 step rule needs to apply?
Off course I wont have it on school campus because I still will be in highschool till I graduate on June 4 it will be away from school and at home.

And one more thing I will be at a Trade school in June after I graduate for my Electrical apprenticeship can I have my revolver in the car there since its like a college and not a K-12 place?

Securely Encased

The handgun must be "securely encased." This means any enclosure with snappered lid which does not allow the trigger to be manipulated from outside said enclosure. This can be glovebox, center console, range bag, zippered guncase, etc. This also includes any snappered holster. This does not mean a paper bag.

The gun may be loaded or unloaded.

There is no such thing as a 4-step rule.

Buy John Gutmacher's book Florida Firearms: Law Use and Ownership. Google that and buy it from his website http://www.floridafirearmslaw.com

Thanks alot
I might buy that book to prove to my parents there are talking hogwash because they dont know the law.
The book is a tad bit expensive though because I wont have a job until june when I work as a electrician helper.

Gtee03 is correct.

Use the link that Deavis provided, find the appropriate statute, print it out and keep it in your car.

I work in Law Enforcement in Florida, and I know Deputies who still think it is illegal to car-carry loaded in Florida. They're relying on info that they got when they went through the Academy years ago. To be fair, no one can have all the state statutes memorized, so being able to show them the appropriate statute would be good.
