Turning used 870 into a HD gun?

OK. About that 870 Super Mag at the pawn shop for $165. IF I can deal with the owner and get it, it is destined to become a HD gun. What I have in mind is cutting barrel to 18.5 inches, installing a pistol grip, (or modifying the wood buttstock myself), shortening the wood forearm, and putting a leather handloop on the front. Flashlight attached to the front and a sidesaddle on the receiver for a few extra rounds. Total outlay under $200. Is this a viable plan? Cheaper to cut the barrel than to buy an 18 inch factory barrel. Thoughts please?
