Twist rate on Ruger No. 1 7x57?

I've been looking high and low, but cannot find the twist rate for a Ruger 1A in 7x57. Ruger doesn't seem to have a friendly answer line like Marlin and H&R do. Anyone know the twist? My guess is one in ten, but I"m hoping for more like one in eight.

I don't know what you're wanting to shoot in it and I don't know if their M77s have the same twist rates as the corresponding No 1 chamberings but a buddy of mine likes to shoot 160 Gr X Bullets in his M77 MKII. Makes small clusters of round holes all the way out to 300 yards or so. And he's taken elk and large Michigan deer with that load... not sure about power type and weight.

Ruger's website lists a twist of 1:8 3/4" RH.

Oh man! one in eight! That's so cool. I'm really interested in finding something to shoot some really big Barnes originals I've got, 195 grainers, along with the usual 170 grainers. The SD on those is just fantastic, and I'd like to use it for hunting up here in Alaska.

I have to say, this cartridge, and Ruger No. 1's, have each broken my heart many times. Combining the two may be the worst idea I've ever had. Or the best. After all, I can't get yet ANOTHER poor shooter, can I?

I just love No 1's. I love them even though I know half of them shoot poorly. They're so just poetic. A pure rifle, with nothing extra or superfluous. The same might be said for the 7x57. It does a lot with a little.

And here sits a barely-used 1A in 7x57 at a little gun store, for only $550. I should just give in and kiss that tax refund goodbye. What's the worst the creditors can do to me?
