I got an urge for a new knife last week, so I ordered myself a couple.
The first is the Bahco 2444 Carpenter Multi Purpose Knife, which is just a rebranded Morakniv Clipper with a 4" stainless blade, black rubber handle with orange guard and pommel and an orange plastic sheath with a 1 3/4" belt clip. Bahco is a Swedish hand tool brand now owned by Snap-On. Like all Mora knives, it's simple and solid, though this one was not very sharp out of the box. Then again, it only cost $11, I should have gotten two.
The second is a Svord Mini Peasant folder from New Zealand. I sure am glad I didn't get the full-size peasant as this on is 5 1/2" long when folded! It's a little bigger than I thought it would be, so it may not work for me in the long run, but it has a simple charm and was razor sharp right from the get go. I like it better than the Svord fixed blade I got last year, which just did not sit well in my hand. Not bad for $16.
The jury is still out on how these two will stand up over time, but I think I did pretty well for my $27, plus I got a small diamond sharpener to go with them and push me up over $35 for free shipping on Amazon. Both knives have actually dropped in price since I bought them down to about $10 and $15 today.
