The SxS is a Pedrasoli 10ga heavy magnum I found cut down so the shortened ramrod will still stay on and the former middle sight is now the fron sight. It appeared as new and I think it was $200 soooo. I bought felt under cushion and over powder and over shot wads after initially trying it with my 10 ga. pattern drive plastic wads I load in a MEC for steel waterfowl loads in my BPS. I also have an AYA 20" 10 ga 3.5 SxS I keep around for home security :) I last fired this BP 10ga with my left over .31 balls that I gave up loading in my 1849 Wells fargo (which I converted to .32 S&W) . I used 90 grains of FG and 15 balls per barrel. It was most impressive at the 60 foot range in my yard I fired it 4th of July for the grand kids. I only did it a few times as the whole valley was ringing and the new neighbors might be disturbed who built 200 yards to the side. It kept the 00 sized buckshot all on the target which was an IPSC shilo very well distributed and the recoil was very substantial :) from the light cannonade.
The upper rifle has an interesting story and I used it in some muzzleloading shoots in yeas past. It is an old Hopkin's and Allen .".45" bore , which it isn't , bull gun and I really can't shoot it off hand any more . It uses .433 balls with 40 grains of FFF to print point on to where the sights are adjusted at 50 yards. I have unscrewed the Merit adjustable diopter insert and stored it . It seems to be very supersonic at that load , which is an accuracy load and far from maximum. It came with a .433 mold and 400 Maxiball HP boolits from the OLD Army Colonel who used it in the 10 years (!) he served in Germany from 60s thru 70s . He said he hunted stag and boar successfully with it and " cleaned up the Army muzzleloading competition" with it . I really didn't want it when I gave him $400 for it 15 years back but he was insistent ! I was real sad it has that odd ".44 Rifle " bore size but dang it IS accurate ! I also fired some of those 250 grain soft lubed maxi balls and took it hunting when I first got it but never shot game with it. He claimed he used 60 grains under the maxi's and thats what I used but I hated fiddling with the verneer sight between loads.

Thanks for posting that! I really like the underhammer design for both pistol and rifle and it is probably the most simple firearm mechanical design there is. I don't own any but maybe someday...

Regards,

Jim

Really cool guns. Don't see too many underhammer guns.

I really like the 10ga coach gun. I'm going to get one like that someday.

My first muzzleloader was a .45 caliber H&A Heritage Model under hammer that I was gifted by @RON in PA in 1981 (he bought it ~1970). I shot it with .440 round balls, a ticking patch, and 40 grains of 3Fg, and it was quite accurate out to 50 yards. Won my first shooting match with it, too. I still have it but it hasn't been fired in years. I need to fix that.
