Okay, so I've decided I'm getting a new 9mm pistol. I already have an M&P9 which I LOVE, but I want another one to keep it company...:)

Here are the options I've narrowed it down to:

A) CZ-75B or SP-01 I like the looks of this handgun and the SA/DA aspect. I am affraid that the DA trigger reach might be a little too long for me and I can't get my hands on one because nobody around me stocks them! :banghead: I would most likely also buy a Kadet kit for it.

B) Walther PPS First Edition I've been looking for one of these for awhile and a shop by me has one in stock. If and only if I buy this pistol, I will most likely take my concealed weapons class with it and get a permit. I don't have anything else small enough to comfortably carry (I know it can be done with the M&P but I want something smaller).

What would you do in my position? I can't make up my mind.

The DA trigger on the 75b is a little long but I believe it was shortened up on th P-01. The CZ's are great guns. I had trouble finding one in my area as well. I had to drive 1/2 way up the state to find one. but it was worth it.

If you want something smaller to carry more comfortably avoid the CZ 75B. It is probably bigger, and definately heavier, than your M&P. The P-01 is more compact, but no narrower than the full-sized CZs (the width is a consideration for some carry methods, like IWB).

If it was me, and I was only looking at those two options, I'd probably get the Walther (though being brand new with no reliability history makes me a little nervous and might send me over to the CZ). Of course, if it was me, I'd be looking at a list based on my preferences and get something different (a SIG, a CZ PCR, a Taurus PT911, A S&W M&P Compact, a Taurus PT111/140/145 Millennium Pro, a compact alloy 1911, etc.).

I haven't shot either, but I really like the CZ and think that particular model is an AWESOME gun. A friend just bought one off of Gunbroker and I am anxiously waiting to shoot it.

CZ gets my vote

First off I think you have one of THE Best 9mm ever made in the SW-MP. I have a .40 MP and look forward to getting a 9mm and .45 version someday. If you want a Great SA/DA 9mm out of the Box. You just cannot beat the Taurus 24/7. I have 9mm version and that gun will shoot anything! Accuracy is Excellent. totally reliable. The 24/7 has a lot of nice features for a great price. Take Care!

The Best to You and Yours!

Since you're already thinking ahead, I'd get the CZ and the cadet for the plinking & and the cheaper shooting expense :D

I don't have overly large hands, and the CZ's DA trigger is not too long for me. At worst, you can still go cocked and locked with non-decocker models. Or you can look into the SA model or the ones (P-01) with the re-curved trigger. CZ's are worth the extra time and effort to find. They've got great ergos, are built like tanks, and are as accurate as guns twice the price. Plus, the Kadet kit is one of the best aftermarket .22 kits out there, period. IMHO, a CZ 75b variant plus Kadet kit should be a part of everyone's collection. If you haven't yet, you should pay a visit to www.czforum.com.

I agree on all comments about the CZ quality, but I find my CZ 75 almost too heavy to carry. I prefer to carry my PF 9 or Kimber Ultra CDP II. I've got some new Perry suspenders and a new holster for the CZ, so maybe that will change with cooler weather. I just don't want anyone to see my suspenders. Mike

I'm not looking to carry the CZ. I would only get my license and start carrying if I had something small enough to do it with.

It seems this thread has reinforced what I've read elsewhere on this site...CZs are awesome! I'm going to start my search of local shops again with the hopes that someone has a CZ75 for me to fondle. I don't think they'll order me one just so I can hold it and see if it fits my hand and trigger reach :uhoh:.

drw2514,
I think you will be surprised how easy a large handgun like your M&P9 or a CZ75 will conceal. I have a CZ clone, a full size Baby Eagle in 9mm and it conceals quite well, but not as good as my Mil Pro or XD45compact.
That being said I hope to make the M&P my next purchase. I love the CZ75 series they are excellent weapons. I would probably shy away from the Walther until it has proven itself. I think there are plenty of other comparable options as have been mentioned, including the CZ's, Taurus. You could go with a CZ Rami, CZ Compact, or the P01. The Compact would be perfect because you can still use the Kadet kit with it, I think the P01 would also work with the Kadet but you better check first.
Also regardless get your permit, you won't regret it.
Good Luck and Be Safe!

Easy solution

2 CZ's.....:D

2075 RAMI for CCW and the SP-01 'cause it's just so nice...

Walther PPS

Since you mentioned carry and getting a CCW permit, I would get the Walther. The CZs you mentioned will be the same size as your existing S&W, and may be heavier because of metal frames instead of polymer. The Walther is made for concealed carry and is quite thin (about 0.91 inches thick in slide and grip), so it will conceal easily.
