Two Police Officers Fired For Beating Suspect
Authorities Release Tape Of Stop That Led To Firing Of Officers

DILLON, S.C. -- Two Dillon police officers could face criminal charges after being fired for cursing and beating a suspect at a traffic stop.

A videotape released by authorities Tuesday shows officers Darren Miles and Donnie Grimsley chasing 26-year-old James Anthony Rhodes' car around an apartment parking lot. Rhodes got out of his car after about one minute.

The seven-minute tape shows the officers struggling with Rhodes, at times beating him in the arms and back with a flashlight and stomping him while he was on the ground.

The tape contradicts what the officers wrote in police reports. Prosecutor Jay Hodge said the State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the incident and will turn its findings over to him and he will decide whether to file charges.

COULD? :banghead: :fire:

COULD. If I assaulted someone, I would face criminal charges.

vern, I think Art's point was that the reporters can't say "will" because they can't predict the future, but they're free to speculate about the obvious by saying "could". I'm guessing the instant the local prosecutor gets the info he needs, the reporters will let you know. stay tuned.

^^ I agree. It's just like they say "alleged" murder, theif, etc. when the person hasn't been convicted, even if there's a video showing the person in the act.

I understand all of that. My point, if this was a citizen, an arrest would have been made due to the video evidence, they would be waiting for court, and still being refered to as "alleged".
