This morning, a group of us 'good ole boys' met up at our local outdoor range to fire off some ammo that needed to be shot. I got to shoot a couple of new ones to me-sort of.

One was a WWII bringback Luger. All numbered parts matched except for the magazine. Has a '41' stamped on the front and the Waffenmach's stamped on it. Also the BYF manufacturing code. Finish was good except worn off on some of the sharp edges, but otherwise the gun was in super shape.

It is a very ergonomic feeling gun and points naturally like your finger. Trigger pull was pretty clean but heavy. Sights were tiny. Function was 100% perfect and accuracy was quite good.

That sucker is built like a swiss watch. I do not now how they could possibly work if they got any dirt on them at all, but I guess they did. A very interesting piece of history and a quite different feeling gun.

Second one was a Springfield XD, full size double stack .45 with a rail. With apologies to all the Glockophiles here, it felt MUCH better to me than a Glock. Somewhat thinner, less blocky grip that pointed much better for me than the Glock. Trigger was better too-pretty crisp and not so 'mushy' feeling as the Glocks I've fired. Function was 100% and accuracy was WAY good and recoil soft and very easy to manage. I very much liked the grip safety and think it is a good idea with a trigger setup like it has. The safety is completely unobtrusive and goes unnoticed in use.

While I guess it is not a bullseye gun, it impressed me quite a bit. I like it better than any other plastic pistol I have ever handled and fired. Something to look at if you are looking for a new firearm.
