I have both a M36 (1965 vintage) and a M640. Both are on my CCW, but I'm removing one as I don't wish to qualify with EACH and I ...never... carry the 640. Yeah, it's a MAGNUM...but the 36 has a shorter barrel and slim profile and with its SMALL grips, drops into a jeans pocket with no trace visible unless I carry it long enough to wear its silhouette into the material.
ANYHOW....point of the post.... since I'm going to qualify with ONLY the 36...and it had the narrow grooved trigger while the 640 had the wide SMOOTH trigger, I got the bright idea of SWITCHING.
40 year interval in manufacturing. One DA/SA, the other DA only. All I had to do was change out the hand (which is a bit different and matched to the cylinder) and it worked out SLICK!
Now I have a lil bitty .38 with a ....smooooooth....trigger and no more sore trigger finger if I dry fire the snot out of it.
It amazed me that the tolerances would simply interchange without messing up the letoff in single action on the 36.
