Police Consider Self Defense Scenerio In Crawford Homicide
Fred Childers
Wichita County investigators will not arrest the man who shot Richard Dale Crawford Friday night.
They say the shooting was unfortunate but possibly self defense. The sheriff's department believes he was defending his family and home from a man who called ahead with a death threat.
Richard Crawford was shot dead with a shotgun at this residence on Rodgers Lane.
Crawford reportedly made a death threat to his 29-year-old former roommate who now lives with his family in the home. When Crawford showed up, he faced a loaded shotgun.
Investigators say the former roommate’s father pulled the trigger. The sheriff's department will not arrest anyone for now as it’s weighing evidence. The department may hand the case over for a Grand Jury to decide.
The Grand Jury will decide whether there is sufficient evidence to indict the suspect, but the sheriff's department will continue investigating the case for the next few days and an arrest is still possible depending on what they discover.
