Police have arrested two suspects in Tuesday’s failed robbery attempt at Gun Sport Ltd.

According to an OPD news release, two men entered the store Tuesday afternoon, and one pepper sprayed an employee.

The employee, whose name was being withheld, managed to keep one of the men from leaving the store by holding a gun on him, according to Sgt. Bob Forbus.

The other man reportedly fled on foot.

On Tuesday, police arrested Jameyl Loud Webb, 19, 2617 San Andres Drive, inside the store and charged him with robbery.

Webb remained in custody at the Ector County Detention Center Wednesday. No bond has been set.

On Wednesday, police arrested Crayshon Dewayne Cromer, 19, 312 Lindy Ave., after a 2 a.m. foot chase.

Cromer was charged with evading arrest, giving a false ID to an officer and robbery. Cromer was being held Wednesday at the Ector County Detention Center Wednesday on a $500 bond. No bond had been set on the robbery charge as of Wednesday afternoon.

The owner of Gun Sport Ltd., Jon Thomas, said he was surprised and pleased at how quickly police arrested suspects in the robbery, but that he felt sorry for them.

“Here’s a young guy, doesn’t look stupid, but he may spend the next 10 years making little rocks out of big ones,” he said.

Thomas said the robbery was the first time in 30 years of owning gun shops that one of his was held up.

“Gun shops, by and large, aren’t targets because we have guns,” he said. “It’s like someone trying to rob a snake farm.”

Anyone with information, about the robbery can call the OPD at 333-3641.

pepper-sprayed, and still managed to hold the guy at gunpoint? pretty good.

No no it can't be, there are waiting periods and registries and BATF reguations, so criminals can't get guns. Criminals will respect these rules, and live the rest of their lives disarmed.

(circuits shorting out)

Bzzzt- but this suggests that criminals who can't get guns legally will simply do criminal acts to get guns... Error error, cannot compute, gun laws must be effective, gun laws must be effective.

Feels sorry for them?!?!?!?!

Rarely am I speechless. I don't feel sorry for either Crayshon or Jameyl.

This story begs the often repeated question,
"Which one of you is the brains of the outfit?!":D

Gun shop robberies/homicides unfortunately happen more often than you would think but I'm sure liquor store holdups happen a 1000 times more. In my area in the last 10-15 years I know of at least 3 of them not including burglaries.

When I was involved with a indoor range that did not even sell guns, just rentals, I know the local hooligans were casing the place. Never an attempted robbery though. I was honest with them. Why rob a place that you know most everyone is armed, has surveillance cameras,LE customers present a lot of the time?

You don't believe we have little money? Go look at the cars in the parking lot, see any Merecedes or Bentleys? This usually got a laugh but I think they got the message.

I guess the owner has never been pepper sprayed. He might not feel so sorry for the s.o.b's
