Hello everyone,

As I looked through the Blue Book of Gun values and viewed all the different versions of the 870 Express (Express Turkey, Express Deer Gun, Express Junior, etc.), I wondered if one of those guns will actually say that full name on the side of the receiver, or if it will just say "Express", and you have to figure out what kind it is by comparing barrel length, round capacity, etc. Can anybody help me out?

The 870 is a modular gun, akin to the AR-15. Stocks, barrels, trigger groups, etc. swap out in seconds.

AFAIK the receiver will say "Express Magnum" or the like, but, other than guns with camo on the steel parts, Remington just sticks the various parts together to form the configuration, boxes them up, and ships them, same as Bushmaster, Stag, et al. do with an AR-15.

Can't swear to it, but I don't think so.

Marine Magnum, Wingmaster, Classic Trap, Special Purpose, Police, Express, Express Super Magnum, et al., yes, but I don't think that guns with the same receivers and finishes, but different barrels or stocks, get different markings.

However, Remington has friendly customer service via phone. Check their website for the number. They'll tell you for sure. They'll also tell you a good deal about a particular gun, if you give them a serial number.
