The FFL dealer that's trying to sell two of my guns on commission right now is charging me 10% - that is he keeps 10% of what he sells them for. But I signed a contract with him stating how much I'll see from the sale of each gun, so if he doesn't sell them for enough to get his 10% commission, it's his problem. Likewise, if he sells them for enough to make more than 10%, while still giving me my price, it's not my business.
Actually, I'm kind of regreting the fact I put those two guns on commission with this dealer in the first place. It's been two months. He has only a small business in a small town about 50 miles from here, while the FFL dealer I usually go through sells guns over the Internet. Besides, even though my usual FFL dealer says he charges 10%, he doesn't, at least not when he sells a gun for us. He knows my wife and me very well and he knows every time he sells a gun for us, we're just going to buy another one from him. So he makes a profit on one end or the other.
