U.S. Army: "Terrorists don't register their weapons...Are you a terrorist?"

Wow. Disgusting and disturbing.

At Fort Campbell one of the units, 3-187 of the 101st, tried to force Soldiers to register personal owned weapons kept off base. It met with a lot of scrutiny and was quickly stopped. I know the commander that tried this.

I'd better not say what I think here, but suffice it to say I think it's unconstitutional to say the least.

It is quite disturbing. No one is required to register firearms in my state.
But you are required to register your firearms on a military base if you live on base regardless of what state you are in.

I posted about the amnesty offer at Ft. Drum. They had some accusations and assumptions about unregistered guns and their owners but nothing like that.

Still, "Terrorists don't register their weapons, are you a terrorist?". Really? I mean, seriously?

Communists love their vodka, are you a communist?

I can see the Army running off in all sorts of stupid directions with other such slogans aimed at things like irresponsible drinking, as my example slogan is. What the heck happened to the guy that did "Be all you can be"? We need him back ASAP!!!

I remember not long ago when almost every guy who ETSed said as they begin their terminal leave "An Army of One ... less!!!"

As A former Rakassan I hope this "officer" was encouraged to retire. The Army needs leaders not managers.
As a former senior NCO, I would respectfully encourage him to grow a pair, Sir.

In Florida, that Commander would be in violation of statuatory law, and if not covered via federal law, subject to massive fines.

Yeah, you gotta do as the CO says relative to your service assignment and posting, other than that he can screw himself!

Last I knew the local (NW FL) base/wing commanders required base residents to register. I always chose to live off base stateside.

+1. And if you're a junior guy who doesn't get BAH yet, find a trusted buddy and leave your guns in his safe. Bases don't like privately owned weapons on base, and I'm okay with that.

As to the picture, the person who chose the wording needs a good square punch in the face for insinuating that their fellow servicemembers are the enemy.

Military bases are Federal property and do not follow state laws. Most bases adopt the host state's laws but it is not mandatory. Kinda like a Native American reservation.

I really don't think anyone gets it. The poster has nothing to do with civilians. However it is extremely derogatory and offensive.

On the other hand, "FREEDOM FIGHTER'S DON'T REGISTER THEIR WEAPONS, BECAUSE OUT-OF-CONTROL GOVERNMENTS WILL CONFISCATE THEM!" Might be a more appropriate poster.

Me too. I always live off post when I have the option. When at the Presidio of Monterey, the only housing I could afford with my number of dependents on my BAH was the former Ft. Ord housing. It had a policy that all firearms must be registered with the post PD within 30 days. I left all of my guns at home, and when I was ready to PCS back to Utah, I had a friend bring my 1911 less than 30 days from my move date so that I wouldn't be in violation of the policy. I strapped it on when I crossed the Nevada border.

That memo is someone's idea of being clever. I would take a picture, follow it up to wherever it came from, and have a frank discussion with whatever leader had it posted. In a society that has become so hypersensitive to offending people, and in an army where political correctness is overtaking the mission in priorities, this is absolutely sickening, that gun owners can be insulted and discriminated against so freely. I would go to IG because it is creating a hostile work environment. Un freakin acceptable.

All I can say is ***!!? Beck is right the fall of the Republic is here.

This "terrorism" poster does not relate to civilians (unless they happen to live on a military installation). It relates to Soldiers who are required to register all privately owned firearms on their installation. What this poster tells Soldiers is that if they do not have a registration card then they are an embryonic traitor and a potential murderer and that is a gross insult and completely unacceptable.

This is nothing more than the latest reflection of the general distrust that the members of the Army Officer Corps. feels toward their NCOs and Junior Enlisted Soldiers. No Officer would ever admit it out loud where there was any chance of being overheard but non-Officers are seen as dangerous social primitives who need to be carefully controlled and straitjacketed. A 25 year old Sergeant with multiple deployments cannot possess a pistol in his barracks room but a 22 year old Second Lieutenant with no experience or track record can have a pistol in his Bachelor Officer Quarters.

The Army's firearms policy is non-sensical and dangerous. Ft. Hood proved as much.

As a 25 year old Air Force SSgt I could not agree with you more. However I happen to have an extremely pro gun chain of command in my Squadron from my supervisor all the way up to the Commander. We have even had a very good discussion on unlawful orders involving disarming civilians in a time of Martial Law.

I had a Marine tell me one time that the US military as a whole is mostly anti-gun. I had a hard time believing it, but now it seems he was right...

Well I did 25 years active duty and based on my experiences / friends/ acquaintances, you may have been misinformed. I only ever met a few people who were antis.

But on the OT, that poster is incredibly offensive, especially considering the target audience.
