I have recently received postal mail, then email from The Sportsmen's Alliance. I was, and remain curious about them. So I did my THR search and when I searched thread titles, I came up with:

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

When I searched inside posts, as opposed just to thread titles, I got several false hits. You know the ones that just hit on one word like alliance, but the whole phrase for which I searched was not there. I also got a few positive hits that showed posts that actually addresses the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance, but all those were basically brief mentions - nothing in dept that I saw in my scan of them. I would like to get the low down on them, in detail from other THR members who know something about them.

So without further adieu about nothing, can someone out there give me the skinny on the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance?

Is this a pro-hunting group?

Are they pro-RKBA - and I do not mean just hunting arms?

What issues have they addressed recently that show examples of them fighting for our RKBA, and our privileges/liberties to hunt?

Is this group endorsed by the NRA or another well known RKBA group within the USA?

Do you believe they are an organization worth your money, as in membership fees and donations?

All the best,
Glenn B

Edit: My recall in the post here was apparently not correct - please refer to the NRA web site for info on this organization - I was incorrect in thinking this was the bogus group - My apoligy to anyone who I confused - I wasn't sure, and I should have taken the time to look this up myself instead of just refering the poster to the NRA site.

I think that is the bogus bunch that are anti-gun, but try to deceive people by their title.

Do a little more searching either here or on the net. Look at the NRA web site and search there for some info.

You sure this is the "anti" one? I think you guys are confusing the name with another, AHSA.

Richard Cabela is on the Board of Directors, of "Cabelas" stores.

Walter Pidgeon is on the Board, formerly Director of Wildlife Legislative Fund, another hunting group.

C Martin Wood, on the Board, is a former Director of the Wildlife Foundation of Florida.

I can't find any articles written on the organization that directly ties it to any anti gun agenda.

Some of you guys need to slow down a little......

Bruce,

Thanks for the link to the NRA page listing pro-gun organizations. My bet is that if the NRA believes them to be pro-RKBA, and pro-hunting, well then they are just that.

As for some of you others guys, I think TexasRifleman got it right. Maybe you are confusing the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance with another group. It could be the Union Sportsmen's Alliance, one that the NRA in essence claims is anti-gun. This group is obviously geared toward liberal ideals as I see them. They are also very restrictive as to whom they allow membership, you must be or have been (as in retiree) an AFL-CIO Union Member or family of a union member. Personally I don't like this group just for that restrictive membership community. It just goes to show it is little more than an extension of the union, and probably not more than another way to assure liberal political candidates votes.

All the best,
Glenn B

Nope - Not sure - that's why I refered to more research and the NRA site.

I have to drive stakes to see wether I'm moving already !!

Hey...It's an internet forum...facts aren't nearly as important as being the first to post an answer!

Or the first to find an error in someones post so you can criticise and show how much smarter you are !
