Has anyone changed the hammer on a Uberti 1858 44.Cal. Is it hard to do
for a person like myself. The hammer on mine seems to be off center as it
goes into the slot in the frame and rubs on one side but still strikes the
nipple or should I just let it go as it is. Iam new at this. Never had a Blackpowder Revolver.
Thanks

Well if the Uberti strips the same as my Pietta then no, it is very simple.I strip mine to the last screw after every shoot and clean it, WD40 it then oil and re-assemble. The hammer comes out easily. Just look at an exploded diagramn and it will be obvious.

Unless it's really bad I shouldn't worry. I have a $1000 Pedersoli Match and a Ruger Old Army - both of which exhibit the same problem. I call it a problem but it isn't really. If the side of the hammer is just showing a slight buffing where it rubs the frame - ignore it. If you change the hammer you could end up giving yourself more problems than you have now.

Tight Wad :)
