The timing on my Uberti 2nd Model Dragoon seems perfect. The cylinder rotates and lines up with the hammer flawlessly everytime, no matter how fast or slow you pull hammer back.

However, when the hammer is in half-cock mode the cylinder turns freely both clockwise and anticlockwise without the familiar clicking sound from the hand – is this normal for this model?

No. The hand should prevent it from rotating backwards (counter-clockwise). I suspect a broken or bent hand spring. Point the muzzle straight down while cocking the hammer and see if it makes any difference.

Yep just tried it and you are right! – cylinder revolved clockwise only on half-cock and the clicks are there.

Haven’t time to strip it down right now but I will do tomorrow. If the spring is bent, can I bend it back into shape or would you suggest I buy a new spring?

Many thanks for the advice.

The hand spring might have become detached from the hand. I received a Dragoon I ordered from Dixie Gun Works like that. I simply took it apart and re-inserted the spring and applied a little locktite.

Buy a new hand/spring assembly. If it's bent so badly that it isn't working, or if it's come off, you're going to need one eventually. Might as well have it on 'hand'. So to speak.

Sorry about that. Just couldn't help myself.

Folks … ‘spot on’ advice as usual

Here’s a pic of the offending item:( – just got off the phone and a new part has been ordered:)

Many thanks again
