XD tried to look like a glock but came out looking like a stack of legos :D .

Did tinygnat219 actually say this?

Colt 1873 SAA

The SAA is one of the most classic, cleanest forms ever.

What in heaven's name do you think is GOOD looking? Hanging around in DC you must be skewed by all the Lorcin's and Jennings the homey's are carrying around... :D

iamchris,

That's just my humble opinion. The Colt SAA to me just isn't pretty. It looks ungainly, clunky, and doesn't really do a whole lot for me. Don't get me wrong, it's got a place etched in history for obvious reasons, but for me looks ain't one of 'em.

What do I consider pretty? Laugh at this, my tastes are a little on the odd side. I like the S&W No. 3s, their old M&P line and Radoms.

Borchardt's are ugly and insectlike, but I spend very little of my life looking at them. Webley's are clunky but have genuine class.
And bolt-action centrefire 'handgun' gets my vote. And Desert Eagles are ridiculous.

I don't really find any firearms too ugly. There are those that certainly look unusual, or even impractical, but I still find interest in their uniqueness and strange design. Now.. that being said, that 1911 the Sako_75 posted in post #18 is admittedly one of the most horrible things Ive ever seen.

No idea who made it, and I can't find the photo now, but in some French gun collection is a 30 (yes, THIRTY) shot pin-fire revolver. The cylinder was a good 9 inches wide, with spokes going from the rim with the chambers, to a center hub. The grip was hung off the end of the hub, with a trigger crammed in between the two. The hammer had to be the better part of 5 inches long, it curved up and around the top of the frame. The barrel was about 4 inches long, which made the thing WIDER than it was long....I have no idea how it could have been fired without causing major wrist injuries.

I still think the new Armalite pistol looks like someone beat a CZ 75b with an ugly stick. And beat it, and beat it, and beat it....

The Owen Machine Carbine wasn't designed for looks, but it was tremendously simple, robust, reliable and effective. It was well-loved by the soldiers (who had good reason to value these qualities over looks) and they called it the "Digger's Darling".

Nothing tops the Dreyse Model 1907 for ugly pistols. Ridiculous looking thing. Always thought Lebel revolvers were a little schitzophrenic looking.

ugliest rifle-- that thing that belgian soldiers carry.

Ugliest pistol-- tough one. Desert Eagle in Lavender niobium finish, I guess.

Ugliest shotgun-- Hmm. Maybe a holland & holland shotgun with rose & scroll engraving. Oh, better yet-- a sawed off holland & holland with rose & scroll engraving.

Wow I cant believe no one agreed with me on the Liberator... very disappointed in you guys.. :D

Note: Any gun will become the most beautiful thing you have ever seen the minute you need it. :p

This one is in the running:

They ought to stick with their core product. Although less than half the price of their low end custom 1911s - and a fourth the price of the high end ones - it is still pretty darn expensive, considering that it appears to be the old Heritage Stealth, a gun that sold for about $300 in the late 1990s.

I agree that Glocks have nothing to offer by way of beauty but to me the ugly gun that stands out - probably because it's one of the most recently announced new guns to hit the market - is the new Bolt Rifle by Thompson Center. The wood in the stock is beautiful but EVERYTHING else is about as ugly and unproportioned as possible. The bolt shroud is awful looking and the butter knife bolt handle is just plain wrong looking with all it's sharp, flat angular surfaces. The whole purpose of a butter knife bolt handle is to look sleek and elegant, isn't it? If ugly can kill what is probably a good rifle then this one doesn't stand a chance of commercial success! :(

Oh, I just found this board and am enjoying reading all the different opinions on guns!
