Well.. I bought a new shotgun today :)

I dont think there will be any tightening about what we can own. I think the worst that will happen is that they will check on the mental health of gun owners more often which isnt the end of the world.

UKShooter, i HOPE u r right, but if I were you

I would be very concerned about the suggestion about prohibiting the keeping of firearms in the home.

If most of the UK shooters have the attitude that each little step that the government takes "isnt the end of the world" you'll find that it's "another brick in the wall" where there will be no reason for you to own firearms in the near future.

It's the leaders that you elect today, that will dictate future gun ownership and use in the UK.

It's (formerly)Great Britain.

They are lucky if they are still allowed to do anything involving guns.

It's the difference between subjects and citizens.

Of course there will be further bans.

Going to be a lot of English gentlemen crying when their Purdeys and Holland & Hollands go into a smelter.

They were already reviewing it long before this. Started with a consultation exercise in 2004, if I recall. Seems to have dropped down the priorities since then but expect it to move back up now.

It's the same alover Europe these days. They can not prohibit guns because there's to much people opposed to it, so they say you can have one if you have a good reason (sport or hunting, HD doesn't count)

Then they gradualy start making proving your use more difficult (end often more expensive) so at every minor change, there is just a few people involved and there is no big fuzz.

Eventualy, they will , over the years, have banned all arms from the public.
ie, in Germany they have banned all knives you can open with one hand, unless you have a reason (emergency services or hunter on hunting grounds)

We should never say "it is not the end" of the world because evert step is one step closer to this end. Everyone should oppose every step, even is it doesn't involve them directly, because the next step might involve U end maybe there will be nobody other left to oppose.

sorry if this is to political

GB is still very great.. Western Civilization, to this day, remains THE NUMBER ONE most cruel and ruthless movement.

It's just that the PEOPLE of GB aren't so great.. Quite pathetic, really. Grown Children, but that's what we all are these days.

That's what propaganda was designed to do.. Make real life like a cartoon with a moral of the story..

Nonsensical and condescending all in one post. You get a Gold Star.

If the for some silly reason, our government decides that sporting arms, are to be kept at centres, then probably, alot of shooters will ask the government(Myself included:)'why did we have bans in the first place then? What did it achieve? Was it really about,a serious&sensible policy of,a reduction in gun violence,or an increase in your popularity,to 'win hearts&minds',from anti-gun bigots& blameful, vengeful persons, affected,in our gun massacres.A ban is done at a whim to appease an anti,as its the easiest thing to do,when under pressure,by the do-gooders.It has no adverse affect on crime or from psychotic individuals, who insanely decide,to kill people at random, for reasons unknown. If I was that insane,I could go tomorrow,to Dartford self-drive hire company, hire a 7.5 tonne truck& proceed to play real-life Carmageddon, or GTA.Unpleasant I know, but look at Dr Harold Shipman&how that lunatic killed all those elderly people.Look at the Yorkshire Ripper&how many women he killed. He never used a gun,he used a hammer. No one can stop lunatics. No one wanted guns controlled after Jeremy Bamber shot dead his family, with a silenced .22 semi-auto,2 years before Hungerford. After Dunblane, some schools started looking like maximum-security prisons, etc, with high metal-framed&wire-mesh fencing. That won't keep out a maniac with a machete knife, who has the right cutting equipment, said one Business Studies teacher,at Hurstmere School For Boys.He also said'that it won't keep out a looney with a legal weapon, such as a shotgun or a high-powered bolt-action,with a scope&won't stop telephone wires, being cut deliberately, before this. This man did shooting,in his younger days.
