I hope I made a good decision. At that price, I figured it was worth a shot. I'm a huge H&K fan, and own a stainless USP.40c and a P2000sk 9mm. I've always been interested in Sig pistols, but until now never wanted to spend $700-$800 on the other models they offer because there have been QC issues with Sig as of late. Besides that, my H&Ks are flawless and have literally never failed once in thousands of rounds.

So this will be my first Sig experience. I've never even shot a Sig in my life so I hope I like this pistol! I decided to buy it because at $475 (total price after FFL fee) it seemed like a steal considering it also has night sights. I've done a lot of research on the SP2022 and I can't find one negative review or comment on it. Even die-hard Sig owners claim it's their favorite Sig and one of the most under-rated pistols out there...

What are your experiences/comments regarding the Sig Pro 2022? I'd like to hear more from people that have owned or shot this pistol. Thanks!

A question for you folks that know about Sigs and Buds Gun Shop...

Buds has the 9mm version for $30 more. It comes with an extra grip and a cheap laser unit. Are the 9mm pistols also assembled in Germany, with the same proof-markings and all that? I'm a fan of the .40s&w, but it is 40% more expensive to shoot than 9mm and I am totally comfortable with the 9mm as a self-defense round.

Then again, the SP2022 was designed around the .40s&w and my local Wally World always has .40s&w, but never 9mm. What are your opinions on my choice of caliber for this pistol?

Ths Sp2022 is a contract gun which was made for the French. It is supposed to be in service until 2022. It has now been adopted by others.

The originals ones came into the country with triple serial numbers and were manufactured and assembled in Germany. They do not have the Nitron finish on them. They have an iffalon finish. They came with a small black Sig Box with a sticker on them which states Made by JP Sauer & Sohn Gmbh. It lists the German website www.sigauer.de

It is my understanding that these guys are gone. If there are ones still on shelf they are back stock. These guns sold for about $450 OTD depending on your dealer.

The current ones both in 9mm and 40 S&W are being assembled in Exter. It is a German made frame but it is a US made slide and nitron finish.

The P2022 is a great pistol. It has a different tigger system than the classic P series guns. It is one of the best DA pulls Sig makes. It is a little long IMHO but the smoothness makes up for it. Lots of revolver guys love them. The SA is sweet.

I own a German made 9mm version. Here is my review after I bought it.

Took it our for a spin today. It was very smooth. No malfunctions in about 150+ rounds. I believe it is one of the french contract guns. It has the iffalon finish with triple serial numbers but no proof marks. Came with 2 grips, Sig lite night sites and 2 mags. These were made in Germany so my no Exeter reputation is still in tact for all the fanboys keeping track.

I know a lot came into the country with 3 but oh well. For OTD for less than $450 I cannot complain.

Found the trigger to be very different then the P series. It is much longer DA pull. I found myslf saying wait for it wait for it in my mind as I shot it in DA. More like the DAK trigger than the standard DA trigger on the P series. IIRC it has a different trigger box that is unique to the Sig Pro. The SA is slick. Super smooth and nice predictable reset. Had to think a bit too much on the DA but I am sure I can get used to it given enough trigger time.

It grouped well for me and was pretty much point of aim. Here is a 15 round target at 10 yards. Not too bad. Got that one little guy out of the red. My guess is I was a little too on the trigger and pushed that one. I know it was not the DA shot.

All in all in the sub $500 category this gun is a steal. There is almost nothing out there that you can get for under $500 that will be as nice out of the box except maybe the CZ 75B.

Check on out if you can.

Thanks for your input rellascout!

The pistol I just ordered is totally German w/ proof marks (frame and slide), has loaded chamber indicator, ifalon finish, 2 mags, 1 backstrap w/ lanyard loop, and Meprolight 3-dot night sights from what I understand.

I just went to my local gander mountain in hopes of seeing one to put my hands on. Luckily, they had a 9mm with the American made slide. I held it and it felt great to say the least. Very solid construction and dry-firing it showed me that the trigger was nice in both DA and SA. I was very impressed. The only thing that I didn't like was the quality of the external finish. Tooling marks everywhere including in between the cocking serrations. I'm hoping that my German made slide will be of better quality when it comes to the actual machining quality.

I've spent thousands on polymer guns over the years. Everything from Kahrs, Glocks, XDs, Walthers, H&Ks, etc. I can honestly say that I've never been so excited over a gun like this one. I really hope it doesn't disappoint!

I have a hefty collection and happen to also own a Sig Pro... They are FANTASTIC...

This is from 15 yards.... Im a decent shot and can do this all day with this gun. Wish mine had night sights. I saw their 9mm on their site the other day and almost bought one.... still tempted

The wait is going to feel like forever! Thanksgiving is more than likely going to postpone the whole shipping process. I have over 600 rounds of .40s&w too...I can't wait to bring this puppy home so I can give it a good workout and break it in nicely.

Is it possible to swap out the trigger for a longer one? (ie not the "short" trigger?)

This is my favorite pistol! I traded a S&W 669 that I bought in the early 80's, I was never very good with it. I shot marksmen in the military with every firearm that I was issued but couldn't hit anything with the Smith. My 2022 is chambered in 357 Sig, what a tack driver. this is by far the most accurate handgun I own! I only wished that my P220 was this half as accurate. Never had any problems at all. Load the clip in, pull the slide back, bang hit every time! At 25' I can hit black all day. Hope you enjoy yours half as much as I do mine.

This is old, but for those that stumble on it in a search, it pertains to the quality of the accuracy of these 9mm SP2022 pistols. I have one in the 9mm and it is, by far, the most accurate pistol I have ever shot in 40 years of shooting pistols.

It is an under rated sleeper of a mid sized pistol.
