Bass Pro and a local chain here in Southern California with 18 stores called Turners basically stock the generic calibers. .243, .308, .270, 30-06 and I think 7mm RM and 300 win mag.
I wanted a Tikka T3 and both stores sell them but not in 6.5 x 55. Turners would order but the price was a big increase. Bass Pro would not order. It's just their business model. Like has been posted, buy for turn over, in a big lot for the best price.
I don't see the point of getting all pissy about things like this, I just move on to another seller. In my case I ended up buying from Whittaker Guns and shipping to a local FFL.
