COPS' GUN HAUL PUTS UP CRIME

SOARING gun crimes are being hailed by police as evidence that they are winning their war against illegal firearms.

Cops claim the rising crime figure is due to their successful crackdown on guns.

In Manchester and Liverpool gun offences have more than DOUBLED in six years.

But police seizures of guns have doubled on Merseyside. And gang-related shootings in Manchester have plunged.

In London, where violent crime involving guns has risen, the Met have also recovered an increasing number of weapons.

Police say the official Home Office statistics look bad only because they include confiscation of illegal firearms.

Hmm... Ban something, and then see it's illegal use and supply increase.. Then say THAT means that the ban is WORKING?  Am I missing something?? I 'spect so...

Maybe they figure that gun crimes have risen at a lower rate than it would have if the confiscated ones had remained on the streets. Does that make since? I hope not. :banghead: :cuss:

I'm cursed by having a logical mind, I can't follow that at all. Isn't htat the country doesn't list a murder unless the murderer is caught ?

Just thank God you aren't cursed with having a logical mind and yet have to live on this crazy island (though I understand New York is pretty crazy too, just not as much).

And yes, despite the FUBARed figures (both governmental and private) the government insists that crime is on the decrease.

I can no longer believe it is stupidity. It is tyranny.

Mr.B ...... I am an ex pat .... very EX!!!!!! I hate to say it but I have no loyalties left to that place .. only a few people I left behind.

Thru the 90's things were worsening all the while .. finally capped off by the 97 guns debacle. How the Police can utter such purile crap i do not understand .. tho I guess the ''sheeple'' think it's just great ........ making them so ''safe''

Saddest to me is the apparent almost deprivation of any right to self defence ...... indeed a trend to praise the crook and condemn the victim ... it sickens me.

I enjoy the ability to carry and accept the awesome responsibility of so doing .... altho I expect (and hope) it will never come into play ''in extremis'' ...... but I sure as hell (as I always did) reserve the inate right to protect myself and those around me.

The ''nanny'' trend in Western nations is a disease ..... and seemingly incurable.:(

Rarely does a day pass when I fail to feel grateful to our forefathers for having rebelled against the English and founded a republic.

Even leftist extremists of the vilest sort in the United States would have a hard time making such statements with straight faces.

Sounds like Newspeak to me ...

"Maybe if we tell people gun crime statistics are going up because of increased enforcement, they won't look at violent crime stats which are also going up."

It's working...

Generally, the unstated goal of any ban of a product, instrumentality, or substance is to make criminals out of the otherwise law-abiding and to create a "problem" that can only be
"solved" by throwing more and more government money at it.

The progression is as follows:

Some people misuse X.

Government passes a law against X.

Black market in X appears.

Profits from sale of illegal X accelerate to the point that it becomes cost-effective to kill people over X.

Increasing X-related violence allows government to hire more bureaucrats, buy more toys and violate more civil rights.

Bad/irresponsible people continue to misuse X and kill each other over it.

Government tries to liberalize laws against X. Policemen, X-counsellors, bureaucrats, prison guards lobby against it.

X stays illegal, government just needs to spend more money on it.

I hope someday that people will realize that evil people will always do evil things and that no number of prior restraint laws will stop them.
