Somone posted a few days ago about the BBC having a public vote for a new law to suggest in Parliament.

You might be interested to know that "Homeowners can use any force against intruders" won.

Not sure what will happen next, though. They need to find an MP who will support it, and the MP (Stephen Pound) who organised the vote in the first place doesn't like the results.

Details here:

(Follow the link "The people have spoken - the bastards" on the right to hear Pound's views).

Leaving aside the diabolical lack of firearms - this would be a valuable move in the right direction. For too long now it seems the victim always finishes up being potentially seen as the perp' ...... hurt a perp and go to jail!

It is time the old ''home is castle'' picture became once more significant .... tho as ever anywhere - there will always be the onus of proof as to whether an ''intruder'' did in fact ''intrude''.

I am sure if a poll was taken nation wide with a large enough sample ... by far the majority would welcome a bit more in the way of ''teeth'' when it comes to defending self and home.

That poor girl, Ms. Pound, sounded terribly distressed. I don't think it's very fair to make MPs out of 13-year-old girls anyway--that's a lot of pressure, and--

What?

A man, you say? Steven? Really?

Well, that's a horse of a different color!

All joking aside, it is HILARIOUS to listen to that poor sucker stutter about how awful it is that the people disagreed with him on this one! If you haven't listened to that link, DO IT! I cannot describe the slimy, sleazy humor of it. Some key phrases:

"The people have spoken--the bastards!"
"This is an uncomfortable result."
"Well, sure, but to allow the slaughter of 16-year-old children with pump-action shotguns. . . ."
"Something has got to be done. Whether that something is to allow you to SLAUGHTER anyone who comes into. . . ."

Well, sure, but to allow the slaughter of 16-year-old children with pump-action shotguns. . . ."
If I were to post my true opinion or Mr. Pound, the Mods. would delete it. It would be a long list of obcene perjoritives.
"Great" Britain needs another Runnymeade.

Good Result!:), Good Comentary From Tony Martin!:), Usual Load of Buricratic Bull From the MP! :barf:

Hope the Law Passes:D
It would be a Major Step in the Right Direction.:)

The problem is that I see the US slowly trailing behind the UK, copying them bit by bit. In 50 years that will be us. And yes, I'll fight it every step of the way, but if you have to ask me if I HONESTLY think we'll win, the answer is no. :(

Bryan, most people here would say you sound rather pessimistic.

But 50 years?

I think you are an optimist!

In 50 years (if things keep going the way they are), we'll look a lot more like Northern Ireland or Bosnia...:what:
