How many people carry a tool kit with them to the range? Are there any tools that you should have with you, no matter what? For those that would let someone borrow a tool, do you let them use a less expensive one? Are there any model specific tools that you carry? Do you carry just what you need, or do you carry tools for anything that you don't have?

I usually carry one of those multi screwdrivers, a set of allen wrenches and a brass squib rod for pistols.

I let just about anyone borrow it if they wish. Make sure it gets back to me before I leave though.

Keep a small assortment

of tools with me, it's come in handy. Allen wrenches, screwdrivers and the like, plus all my cleaning supplies...

On a humurous note, needed to drift a sight out the other day while at the range, and one thing I DON"T have is a hammer...So here's me whacking on a gun with a screwdriver...and a handy rock...while my buddy holds gun down on the bench....Got some odd looks, but hey, it worked!

I used to have a small tool kit that I carried in my backpack -- however at the Shot Show I picked up the new Caspian 1911 multitool. Today I carried only this new 1911 multitool. I did not need to use it as my Short Sword ran perfectly with 6 different kinds of ammo, 8 different CMC mags and no one needed help. This neat new tool from Caspian has been reviewed in American Handgunner and is on the Caspian web site. If you shoot 1911s it will do the job.

A small assortment of screwdrivers that fit the guns I am going to use.
A 4 ounce head brass hammer and a multi head drift with brass, aluminum and nylon inserts.
A small bench block.
A 1/16" roll pin punch.
A 3/32" roll punch.
A USGI segmented cleaning rod with several turned brass squib rods.
Several Hoppes Bore Snakes in various calibers and guages.
A small container of M-Pro 7 cleaning solvent.
A small container of M-Pro 7 CLP oil.
A tube of Tetra Gun Grease.
A Nylon 1911 barrel bushing wrench and combo drift/screwdriver.
A package of gun size allen wrenches including US and Metric standards.

All this stuff goes with me to the range in a compact toolbox and I use it fairly often and rarely have to quit shooting and go home because of lack of a way to fix the problem on the spot.
